Trevor McCaw – Founder and President
Serial entrepreneur Trevor McCaw has founded and co-founded a number of companies since 1999. Now with Aegis Medical Innovations, he is focusing on the cutting-edge medical device industry. Trevor studied electrical and computer engineering before getting his MBA at Harvard Business School. “The medical device field is an interesting place where the convergence of technology, business, and doing something good for the world, all came together,” said McCaw.
Prior to starting Aegis Medical Innovations, Trevor worked in the industry as an executive at Medtronic, and as COO of Sentinel Medical.
Zoe Nguyen – Operations
Zoe Nguyen – Operations
Zoë Nguyen holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Commerce, and has worked in the medical device field since 2003. She has experience working with physicians on emerging technologies in both pre-clinical and clinical settings. She has extensive experience in building the device testing strategies and technical design files to support regulatory submissions for products ranging from endovascular implants to in-vitro diagnostic tools. Prior to joining Aegis in 2015, Zoë worked as an Engineering and QA Consultant. She has played a pivotal role in developing and maintaining Quality Management Systems to be compliant with the requirements of ISO 13485 for a variety of medical device companies. Zoë specializes in working with ISO 14971 Application of Risk Management to Medical Devices, and is committed to a risk-based approach to clinical affairs, product development and Quality Assurance.
Cassie Rex – Engineering
Cassie Borsky – Engineering
Cassie Borsky has been developing medical devices in the endovascular and structural heart fields since 2007 and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree from the University of British Columbia. She has engineering experience in early prototype design of vascular implants and delivery systems and is named as co-inventor on a pending patent in the neurovascular field. Aegis Medical has contracted The Applied Health Research Centre (AHRC) of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto as our Academic Research Organization (ARO). AHRC is a not-for-profit academic research organization that has supported over 60 clinical trials since its inception in 2008.
Aegis Medical has contracted Biomerics to manufacture the Sierra Ligation System. Biomerics is certified to the quality management system ISO 13485 and manufactures finished devices for many of the world’s leading medical device corporations
Aegis Medical Innovations was accepted into the MaRS EXCITE (Excellence in Clinical Innovation Technology Evaluation) program in Canada. The EXCITE program connects health technology innovators with experienced award-winning researchers to get the right evidence and data that they need to show the value of their product.
